The 10 Best Wedding Venues in Northern Ireland for Photography, Whatever the Weather

You have seen the photograph. A couple standing in beautiful light at a stunning venue, everything perfect. And it was perfect, on that day, in that moment. What the photograph does not tell you is what happens when your wedding day brings rain, grey skies, or the kind of flat light that Northern Ireland specialises in for most of the year.

The question to ask when choosing a wedding venue in Northern Ireland is not just, does it look beautiful? The question is, what can my photographer actually do here on the day? Is there somewhere covered when it rains? Are there different spaces, different light, different options throughout the day?

After over a thousand weddings across Northern Ireland and Ireland, I know exactly which venues give you and your photographer real options, rain or shine. These are the ten wedding venues in Northern Ireland I come back to again and again, because no matter what the day brings, I know I will get you beautiful photographs.

Every venue on this list I have photographed at, in real weather, with real couples. Every word here comes from genuine experience, not a brochure.

A beautiful venue is a wonderful thing. A beautiful venue that photographs brilliantly in any weather is something else entirely.

So Many Brilliant Wedding Venues in Northern Ireland

After over a thousand weddings across Northern Ireland and Ireland, narrowing this down to ten was genuinely hard. At one point I considered making this the top twenty, because the truth is Northern Ireland has an extraordinary range of wedding venues and I have been lucky enough to photograph in so many of them.

The closest call on this list was the city venue spot. The Titanic Hotel Belfast was right there alongside the Merchant Hotel Belfast, and honestly both could have made this top ten. The Titanic sits closer to the famous Harland and Wolff cranes and has its own spectacular spaces, but for the combination of city centre location, rooftop views, and those incredible interiors, the Merchant just edged it for us.

The other venues that came very close and that I would happily recommend to any couple planning a wedding in Northern Ireland are Titanic Hotel Belfast, Drenagh Estate, The Rabbit Hotel, Tullyglass Hotel, Beech Hill Hotel, Corick Country House, Cultra Manor, and Dunadry Hotel. I have photographed real weddings at every single one of them, and every single one of them gave me beautiful photographs.

If you are choosing a wedding venue in Northern Ireland and you want to know what your photographs will look like there, I am happy to talk it through with you. That conversation, before you even book, is part of what I do.

The best wedding photographs begin long before we press the shutter.
